n Nordic mythology, Iðunn is the keeper of the apples of youth, which gave the gods eternal youth.
The name Iðunn is Old Norse and means "the rejuvenated one". Modernised forms of the name are Iduna and Idun.

Iðunn, according to the Gylfaginning, is the wife of Bragi.

Iðunn was once kidnapped by the giant Þjazi (Thjazi). Loki helped him finish the job.
The gods did not immediately notice that Iðunn was gone until they noticed they were getting older. Eventually, they found out the score, as Loki had aged considerably less. In fact, Loki had taken an apple from Iðunn, so he stayed younger a little longer. Loki confessed everything and then helped the gods get Iðunn and her apples back by tricking the giant and turning Iðunn into a nut (or swallow) only to reappear in Asgard.

Iðunn is mentioned before Christianisation only in Þjóðólfr of Hvinir's (Thjódolf) skalden poem Haustlöng (around 900). Snorri Sturluson uses this poem in the Gylfaginning. In addition, Iðunn occurs in the Lokasenna. Otherwise, there are no surviving texts that say anything about Iðunn. If she was a goddess, then not a very well-known one, but as the story outlined above indicates, an important one for the Ashen.
