Hephaestus, Greek God of Fire and Blacksmithing

Hephaestus (also known as Hephaistos) is the Greek god of fire, blacksmithing, volcanoes and craftsmen. In Roman mythology, he is known as Vulcan.
He is the son of Zeus and Hera, although some myths state that Hera gave birth to him alone.
He was the blacksmith of the gods. He forged powerful weapons, armour and divine objects (such as Zeus’s thunderbolts).
His forge was located deep beneath the earth, often associated with volcanoes from which smoke and fire emerged. Unlike other gods, Hephaestus was physically disabled or limped, which in ancient Greece symbolised the craftsman who commanded respect through hard work.
