Ark of the Covenant statue Veronese Design
Ark of the Covenant was a sacred chest in the Hebrew Bible.
The ark was made by Basaleel during the exodus from Egypt, at Sinai (Exodus 25:10-22; 37:1-9). It was a portable chest, in which the two stone slabs containing the ten commandments were kept (1 Kings 8:9, 2 Chronicles 5:10). It stood in the Most Holy Place, the inner space of the tabernacle, and later in the same space in Solomon's temple at Jerusalem.
