Hestia
In Greek mythology, Hestia is the goddess of the home hearth. A peace-loving goddess, who never took part in wars. Inhabitant of Olympus (mountain of the twelve main gods). Daughter of Cronus and Rhea and eldest sister of Zeus, the supreme god.

Hestia means hearth. On the Olympus she always sat by the fireplace. The donkey is the symbol of this friendly goddess. In the popular belief of the Greeks, she was seen as the youngest of the deities. The goddess is known for her gentleness and sincerity and is said to have invented the art of building.

Hestia: eternal virgin
She swore on the head of the supreme god Zeus to always remain a virgin. Her brother rewarded her for this by giving her the first sacrificial animal of all public sacrifices.

The Greeks usually prayed to the goddess while eating. Her Roman name is Vesta.
