Vegeta already hated that Goku had beaten Freeza. But when he saw that Goku had also become Super Saiyan, he wanted to become Super Saiyan because he is the Prince of all Saiyans. His longing became greater when an unknown Super Saiyan transformed and killed Freeza and his father King Cold forever when she arrived on earth. He didn't know that the unknown is the future son of him and Bulma, Trunks. He took a spaceship out into space to train, to search for the secret of the Super Saiyan. During a training on a planet where he constantly had to protect his spaceship from meteorites, a giant meteorite came in his direction.
