Asklepios Greek God of Medicine bronzed figurine
Asklepios (Asclepius) was a Greek hero and the god of healing. He was the son of Apollo and Coronis. Asklepios grew up with the wise Centaur Chiron, who taught him the art of healing. Asklepios became very adept at this. The goddess Athena is said to have given him the blood of the Gorgo, which was beheaded by Perseus. The blood of the Gorgo was so stimulating that Asklepios could even use it to resurrect the dead. Zeus was not happy about this, he was afraid that the world order would be endangered. Zeus therefore killed Asklepios with a bolt of lightning. Apollo then took revenge by killing the Cyclops. Zeus then called Asklepios back to life.
