The Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos or Día de los Muertos) is a Mexican festival and day of remembrance. The day combines pre-Columbian and Catholic traditions. It is celebrated every year on 1 and 2 November, i.e. on All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. To a lesser extent, the Day of the Dead is also celebrated in the rest of Latin America, the United States and the Philippines.
