Saint Brigid of Kildare (c. 451–525) is one of the most revered Irish saints and the patron saint of Ireland. She was the founder and abbess of the famous monastery in Kildare and is considered one of the founders of Christianity in Ireland. She is the patron saint of poetry, education, healing, livestock farming and blacksmithing, among other things, and is associated with the eternal fire of Kildare and the Saint Brigid's Cross.
