Eir was the goddess of medicine. She was a physician and was considered to be the best doctor, dealing especially with shamanic medicine. She was one of the gods who inhabited Mount Lyfia ('healing by magic'). She taught her art to Skandinavian women. Only women engaged in healing. They were concerned with healing the body as well as psychology.
